Swim – Stockholm Royal Park Aquathlon & Swim

Our swim courses are designed to fit all levels of Open Water Swimming and give the athletes an opportunity to experience a mass-start. They choose to complete a 1, 2, 5 or 10 kilometer Open-Water Swim in Djurgårdsbrunnsviken and Djurgårdsbrunnskanalen.

It’s a timed race and the athletes will receive a separate Swim-time, Transition-time and Run-time. The “Swim-start, Swim-exit, Transition-area, Run-start and Finish-line” is in front of the Maritime Museum. Walking distance from downtown Stockholm. The Swim-start is 08:00 am. Wetsuits are mandatory. Predicted water temperature and weather: Water temperature 16 – 22 degrees Celsius. Air temperature 18 – 25 degrees Celsius. There will be a limited number of buoys along the Swim-course to ensure an Open-Water Swim experience. The swimmers will enter the water in front of the Maritime Museum and should keep the buoys to their left the entire swim. After the race horn sounds, participants swim across Djurgårdsbrunnsviken towards the first buoy, turn left and continue straight towards the 1 kilometer buoy almost in front of the Stockholm Rowing-clubs boat house. The athletes who swim the 1 kilometer course turn left by the 500 meter buoy and return to the Swim-start. Exit the water in front of the Maritime Museum and enter the Transition-area. The athletes who swim the 2 kilometer course turn left by the 1 kilometer buoy and return to the Swim-start. Exit the water in front of the Maritime Museum and enter the Transition-area. Those who swim the one loop 5 kilometer and 10 kilometer course continue straight past the 1 kilometer buoy, underneath Djurgårdsbrunnsbron, through the entire Djurgårdsbrunnskanalen, underneath Lilla Sjötullsbron, turn left by the end of the canal, return to the Swim-start and exit the water in front of the Maritime Museum. It’s important that the athletes keep to the right during their entire swim in Djurgårdsbrunnskanalen. Both on their way towards the last buoy and when returning from the last buoy. Keeping to the right in the canal is part of the Open-Water Experience. The swimmers who don’t keep to the right might be disqualified. The athletes have to watch out for oncoming swimmers!

Run – Stockholm Royal Park Aquathlon

The run course is a relatively flat and scenic 7 kilometer loop on the bike and walk-path around Djurgårdsbrunnsviken & Djurgårdsbrunnskanalen and the athletes choose to complete one, two or three loops (7km, 14km or 21km).

It’s a timed race and the athletes will receive a separate Swim-time, Transition-time and Run-time. The “Swim-start, Swim-exit, Transition-area, Run-start and Finish-line” is in front of the Maritime Museum. Walking distance from downtown Stockholm. Run participants will transition into running gear in their designated space within the Transition-area. Exit the Transition-area and head towards Djurgårdsbrunnsbron on the bike and walk-path with Djurgårdsbrunnsviken on their right hand side. They cross over the walkway by Djurgårdsbrunnsbron and continue along Djurgårdsbrunnskanalen until Lilla Sjötullsbron, cross over Lilla Sjötullsbron, and return on the opposite side of Djurgårdsbrunnskanalen towards Djurgårdsbrunnsbron, cross over the walkway by Djurgårdsbrunnsbron, continue towards Rosendals Slott and will soon see and cross over Djurgårdsbron, enter Strandvägen on the walk path, continue into the Noble Park and will soon see Källhagens Marina on the right hand side and finally the “The Swim-start, Swim-exit, Transition-area, Run-start and Finish-line”. The run course closes at 12 pm.
